It was founded in 1968 to promote the interests and ambition of the student body by dedicating a newspaper catering to their tastes. The team of Capilano Courier includes students and alumni who work hard day and night to turn this newspaper into one of the most significant student helplines in Canada as it targets a variety of topics ranging from mental health issues to sports and festivals and events that have the potential to trigger joy in the lives of students. It also covers various international topics that may evoke fascination in the student body and enlighten their general knowledge.

The team of Capilano Courier provides golden opportunities to all the students to exhibit their talent for creative writing by introducing them to the platform to write articles and get paid for their creativity. It is one of the few student newspapers in Canada that takes a keen initiative to pay its staff and contributors for dedicating their precious time to the success of the Courier. It works with a rotating cast of writers and graphic artists each month by providing an online pitch document with various writing prompts and projects. The students then get to look and pick up their favorite pieces, which instill power in their pen.
