INTERNATIONAL LAUGHING CLUB ON ZOOM: An Initiative For World Peace

The International Laughing Club on Zoom is an excellent initiative for harmony and world peace slogans initiated by the founder of laughing yoga, Dr. Madan Kataria, and his group of outstanding facilitators. It is a noble deed aiming to reduce the effects of stress becoming the number one serial killer in the world and depression, which is haunting to be the number one sickness. The International Laughing Club is open one and all 365 days a year. It runs daily starting in the early morning Indian Standard Time for 30 minutes. One unique feature about this club is that it is free of cost, and anyone in any part of the globe can access it without being expected to do anything in return for the organization. The main motto of the International Laughing Club is to create a family connected through the magic of laughter and positivity.

SINGING, DANCING, PLAYING AND LAUGHING

The International Laughing Club revolves its themes around the four principles of Laughing Yoga: singing, dancing, playing and laughing. To begin with, the club facilitators engage everyone in acupressure by clapping and chanting finger to finger and palm to palm to stimulate the body’s acupressure points. The session takes an interesting turn when the facilitators introduce the concept of yogic deep breathing followed by positive affirmations. Then, childlike playfulness becomes evident when the facilitator unmutes everyone for two minutes, and the entire Zoom room starts laughing out loud for no reason while maintaining eye contact to practice laughter as a breathing-out exercise. One feels so peaceful in the melody of laughter that all health problems start decreasing, and the increase of happy hormones in the brain and body becomes natural.

Bollywood Laughing Yoga Dance is an essential part of the International Laughing Club, which is practiced almost daily at the end of the session. It is an aerobic style of dancing combining the necessary elements of laughing yoga, and indulging in it is a powerful stress-buster. It is a dynamic yet straightforward dance with easy steps, and anyone with the passion to be happy can master it.

Laugh and Dance Party is another later version of a laughing dance that matches the tunes of Indian and African drum beats combined with singing and laughing. It is also practiced hand-in-hand in the International Laughing Club along with the Bollywood Laughter Dance.

THE POWER OF SILENT LAUGHTER

Silent laughter is one of the most significant laughing yoga exercises of the International Laughing Club that teaches one that the health benefits of laughter can be gained by chuckling without making a noise or disturbing anyone according to the circumstances. Silent laughter puts pressure on the abdominal muscles and is a powerful exercise for the facial muscles. Its beauty remains in the wisdom that silence is golden and laughter can be achieved through the act of silence.

SPREADING IT ROOTS

The International Laughing Club is slowly spreading its roots worldwide as every new day introduces a new member to the club and the practice of laughing yoga. Starting with a few members, the numbers of this club are now soaring high like a rocket, and it would not be a surprise to have half of the world joining this phenomenal online room one day to engage in the beauty of laughter.
